Job summary

Hôtel Dieu Grace Healthcare (HDGH) in Windsor, Ontario, seeks an Exercise Specialist to provide evaluation, treatment and consultation for ambulatory services. You will participate in professional activities supporting client services and may float to programs needing coverage while delivering care aligned with hospital values.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelors in Human Kinetics, offer strong communication, and are prepared to engage in quality improvement and multidisciplinary teams.

Education

Registered Kinesiologist with Ontario College (preferred)

ACSM or CSSP certification (preferred)
Canadian Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation membership (preferred)
2 years experience in cardiac rehab or chronic disease program (preferred)
Cardiac Physiology or Chronic Disease Management credit (or equivalent)

Job description

Reporting to the Operations Manager, Ambulatory Services, the Exercise Specialist is responsible for provision of direct client services including evaluation, treatment and consultation. They are responsible for participation in departmental, program and corporate professional activities supportive of direct client services and corporate objectives and Float Support for any program that utilizes an Exercise Specialist. The incumbent is responsible for delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the hospital and the standards of relevant professional organizations. The Exercise Specialist complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.

Qualifications

Demonstration of ability to read and interpret cardiac monitoring – Preferred

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency in French language is considered an asset

Commitment to and participation in Quality Enhancement activities

Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment

Knowledge of computer functions and (Microsoft Office Software’s : Word, Excel, Outlook)

Education and/or Certification

Bachelors Degree in Human Kinetics or equivalent – Required

Registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiology of Ontario – Preferred

Professional specialty in Applied Kinesiology/Movement Sciences– Preferred

Current BLSC certification– Required

Certification in the American College of Sports Medicine or Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology – Preferred

Current membership in the Canadian Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation – Preferred

2 years experience in a cardiac rehabilitation program or a chronic disease program – Preferred

Cardiac Physiology or Chronic Disease Management credit or equivalent
