Job summary

AIG Canada is seeking an Executive Underwriter for Cyber & Professional Liability to leverage specialist expertise in underwriting new and renewal business. You will build broker and client relationships, analyze coverages, price strategically, and drive profitable growth in a dynamic market from our Canadian office.

The role requires a senior underwriter with 5+ years of relevant experience, strong communication, and leadership skills to mentor peers and contribute to strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of proven cyber and professional liability underwriting experience.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing work environments.
  • Proven ability to deliver difficult messages whilst influencing positive outcomes.
  • Organized, highly motivated, self-starter who takes responsibility for own performance and demonstrates leadership.
  • Proven ability to work within a team framework and support the manager as required.
  • General understanding of people’s behaviors and how to deal with them.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and service an existing renewal book and underwrite new accounts from brokers within an assigned territory.
  • Conduct coverage analysis of manuscript forms and tailor them to client needs.
  • Perform pricing analysis using data analytics and modeling tools.
  • Prepare presentations and market to brokers and insureds.
  • Achieve assigned budget targets and maintain profitability.
  • Assist underwriters in executing strategic initiatives and develop solutions to issues.
  • Monitor developments in the territory to identify new business opportunities.

How You Will Create An Impact

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Cyber & Professional Liability, you will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal business and implementing strategies to profitably grow our portfolio and ensuring we continue to be a market leader. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining key broker, client and partner relationships.

  • Manage and service an existing renewal book of commercial insurance in addition to producing and underwriting new accounts from brokers within an assigned territory
  • Coverage analysis of manuscript forms with the ability to tailor them to specific client needs
  • Pricing analysis using data analytics and modeling tools
  • Presentations and marketing to brokers and insured’s
  • Achieve assigned budget targets
  • Maintain profitability
  • Assist underwriters in executing on strategic initiatives. Provide support and develop solutions to their issues/concerns
  • Keep abreast of developments in assigned territories to determine their effect on current accounts and potential new business opportunities.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
  • Proven Cyber and Professional Liability underwriting experience (5+ years)
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to rapidly changing work environments
  • Proven ability to deliver difficult messages whilst influencing positive outcomes
  • Organized, highly motivated, self-starter who takes responsibility for own performance and demonstrates leadership in their approach to work, training and knowledge seeking
  • Proven ability to work within a team framework, to provide a positive influence on others and to support the team manager as required
  • General understanding and awareness of people’s behaviors, their complexities and how to deal with them
  • CFA/CIP/FCIP/CRM designation is considered an asset
