Job Description

As Executive Sous Chef, you play a critical leadership role within our culinary division. Driving operational excellence, mentoring future leaders, and ensuring our culture and standards are upheld without compromise. Working closely with the Executive Chef, you will influence strategy, guide a high-performing team, and help shape extraordinary dining experiences that reflect both precision and passion. This is a role for a builder, a teacher, and a culture carrier.

Competitive Salary : $100,000 - $105,000 gross annually, based on previous experience & education

Job Duties Include :

  • Partner with the Executive Chef to lead culinary operations, supporting strategic decision-making, upholding brand standards, and ensuring operational excellence in their absence.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and performance management—including hiring approvals, coaching, and succession planning—to build and sustain a high-performing culinary team.
  • Manage labor optimization, scheduling, and food cost control through daily oversight, forecasting, and team development using tools like Birchstreet and Watson.
  • Champion a strong kitchen culture by modeling leadership standards, fostering cross-department collaboration, and ensuring consistent alignment with company values.
  • Lead menu development and implementation across all F&B outlets, balancing creativity, quality, safety, and guest expectations with operational feasibility.

Qualifications

Your Skills & Qualifications :

  • 8–10 years of culinary management experience in a luxury hotel or high-volume kitchen environment
  • Red Seal Certification (Journeyperson’s papers) or internationally recognized equivalent (required)
  • Valid Food Safety Certification (required)
  • Advanced proficiency in labor forecasting, scheduling, and productivity analysis
  • Strong food cost management skills, including recipe costing and inventory control
  • Hands-on experience with Birchstreet, Watson, and payroll management platforms
  • Technical knowledge of menu development, culinary trends, and operational execution across multiple outlets
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of wine, viticulture, and beverage pairings (considered an asset)
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs and stand / walk for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in high-heat, high-pressure environments with exposure to commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, fryers, kettles, mixers, and blast freezers
