Executive Pastor

Whistler, BC

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a capable, gospel-centered, relational leader with a passion for pastoral care, preaching, and discipleship, who is committed to fostering spiritual growth within the church community.

Role Summary:

The Executive Pastor reports to the Lead Pastor and serves as a shepherd (Elder) upholding the character qualities outlined in 1 Tim 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. This role supports the Lead Pastor with responsibilities such as preaching and pastoral care, church operations and systems as well as ministry programs including Baptism and Membership. Theological alignment with the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches’ (CCMBC) Confession of Faith is required.

Position: Full-time

Reports to: Lead Pastor

Compensation: $80,000-$90,000/year (in accordance with BCMB salary guidelines).

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Lead Pastor for preaching ministry to support WCC’s mission and vision and to support WCC’s spiritual growth and encouragement (Eph 4:12-13). Exegete and research sermon content to support the preaching ministry, including the delivery of 1 sermon/month for the congregation.
  • Pastoral Care for the congregation in partnership with the Lead Pastor. Provide one-on-one pastoral counseling and refer to fully trained Christ-centered counselors when necessary.
  • Develop and implement policies, systems, and procedures to support Church operations and growth.
  • Oversight and support of lay leaders in the small group ministry.
  • Lead a Pastoral Care team that provides regular visitation to church members and attendees in need.
  • Ministry outreach to the broader Whistler community, including connecting with infrequent or past attendees to reconnect them to the Church community and support their spiritual growth.
  • In conjunction with the Lead Pastor, provide welcoming support for newcomers.
  • Baptism and Membership process; teach a Baptism and Membership course, counsel congregational members as they consider Membership and Baptism decisions.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited theological institution and a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies, Church Ministry, Theology, or Worship or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years serving in a local church.
