A leading school board in Ontario is seeking an Executive Officer for Technological Support Services. Job Summary
The Executive Officer will provide strategic leadership and direction to a highly effective team within the District’s business and learning technology department, including technology investment planning and procurement, cyber security, and digital information management and transformation.
The Executive Officer ensures that the IT strategy aligns with and continues to advance the District’s teaching and learning priorities. They also lead the modernization of the District’s enterprise resource management systems, while maintaining a stable, robust and secure IT environment, underpinning core organizational processes. They establish strategic service provider partnerships, and coordinate IT security and compliance obligations. The Executive Officer plans, develops, implements, and evaluates information technology programs, policies, and procedures, in alignment with Board and provincial direction and priorities. The Executive Officer also represents the Board to external partners and stakeholders at the local and provincial level. The Executive Officer provides strategic advice, and expertise to the senior staff team and the Board of Trustees on matters related to information technology and digital transformation and cyber security; promotes a culture of digital innovation and transformation with a strong understanding of emerging technologies. The Executive Officer leads the transformational work of the Business and Learning Technology Department with a focus on client service excellence.
Candidate Profile
As the ideal candidate, you are a strategic leader with demonstrated knowledge and experience leading and managing significant projects in IT and digital transformation. A recognized leader in the field, you are intimately aware of current trends in information technology, emerging technologies, cyber security, and digital platforms. A dynamic leader of people, you excel developing and leading a team, preferably in a unionized environment. You have a proven ability to develop and lead multi-year plans and programs, leading innovative system-level change. You are a confident decision-maker within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, able to identify key details and map out an evidence-based path forward. You have a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and effective leadership to remove barriers, address anti-Indigenous and anti-Black racism, and are a champion of the advancement of human rights for students, staff and community.
The competencies and skills required are normally acquired through a post-secondary degree in business, computer science or a related field. With extensive experience (10+ years), qualified candidates should also hold one of the following professional certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). A post-graduate degree in business, public administration or a related field would be an asset, as would a professional certification in project management. Experience in educational administration, or similar public or broader public sector environment would also be an asset.
