Salary range for the position is $206,722 to $284,243. The annual salary is pro-rated for part-time positions. Salaries are determined within this range based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

How Will You Create An Impact

The Executive Medical Director, Long Term Care, Access, and End of Life (EMD), provides senior medical leadership to support high-quality care, improve patient outcomes, and advance IH strategic priorities for Seniors Care. Reporting to the VP of Medicine, the EMD collaborates with Clinical Operations to offer medical expertise in long-term care, access and flow strategies, and end-of-life care, including palliative care and Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). The role involves engaging medical staff, mentorship, and representing Interior Health on various councils and committees.

What Will You Work On

  • Providing medical leadership and strategic planning for Long Term Care, Access, and End of Life services across IH.
  • Developing and implementing policies, standards, and best practices to ensure evidence-based clinical care.
  • Engaging with healthcare providers to foster change management, innovation, and quality improvement.
  • Collaborating with Quality and Patient Safety teams to monitor quality metrics.
  • Participating in clinical reviews, incident investigations, and safety concerns.
  • Managing risks and developing strategies to improve service delivery and patient experience.
  • Supporting accreditation requirements through engagement with Medical Staff and community physicians.
  • Overseeing medical staff performance, recruitment, contracts, and professional development.
  • Managing budgets and resources effectively.
  • Ensuring professional conduct and managing performance issues within the medical staff.
  • Upholding medical governance standards as per IH policies.
  • Promoting a respectful and professional workplace environment.
  • Addressing physician performance and conduct issues proactively.
  • Building collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Participating in academic collaborations and supporting medical education and research.
  • Contributing to occupational health and safety initiatives.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
