The Kenora Public Library seeks a Chief Executive Officer reporting to the Library Board to lead all library operations and services in line with board policies. You will advise the Board on new policies, oversee budgeting, fundraising, and grants, and serve as secretary-treasurer to the Board, representing the library to the community and authorities.

You will collaborate with HR, Facilities, and Communications to ensure strategic staffing, facility maintenance, and strong public engagement.

Qualifications

• Master of Library and Information Science or related field.
• 7+ years’ relevant experience in a library setting, including overseeing branches or departments, managing budgets, staff supervision and development, and strategic planning.
• 5+ years’ relevant experience supervising staff in a public, academic, or special library setting, including performance management.
• Experience with financial administration, secretary duties, program management, and personnel management.
• Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
• Computer literacy including Microsoft Office, Integrated Library Systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, external contractors, and the public.
• Experience in a unionized environment considered an asset.
• Well-developed organizational and time management skills with ability to handle high volume and deadlines.

Responsabilités

• General supervision and direction of the operations of the library and staff.
• Formulate and review policies with the Board.
• Directs, prepares, and administers the annual budget.
• Coordinates fundraising initiatives and grant administration.
• Collaborate with HR on workforce planning and staffing, training and discipline.
• Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate library programs and services.
• Analyze operations and prepare monthly reports for the Board and City Council.
• Ensure safe working conditions and maintenance; coordinate with Facilities.
• Negotiate service contracts and respond to building emergencies.
• Engage internal and external stakeholders through Communications and social media guidelines.
• Serve as Board Secretary and Treasurer duties per governance laws.
• Collaborate with Finance to maintain Board oversight of finances.
