Job description

HR Associates is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a provincial organization for an accomplished executive to join its senior leadership team.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will provide strategic leadership and oversight across a broad portfolio that includes Corporate Affairs, Communications, Finance, Information Technology, and Policy.

This is not a role requiring deep technical expertise across each of these functions. The successful candidate will be an experienced enterprise leader who knows how to provide effective oversight, bring together strong functional leaders, and ensure priorities, advice and decision-making are aligned across the organization.

A critical part of the mandate will be navigating a complex public sector and policy environment. The successful candidate will bring strong political acuity, an understanding of how government works, and the ability to provide sound advice on policy, stakeholder and reputational matters.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Senior leadership experience within government, broader public sector, regulatory or similarly complex environment
  • Strong knowledge of the public sector, public policy and decision-making processes
  • Experience navigating government stakeholders, processes and submissions, including senior-level approvals and responses.
  • Strong political acuity and the ability to anticipate and navigate sensitive or high-profile issues
  • Experience providing leadership and oversight across multiple corporate or enterprise functions
  • A strong background in corporate affairs, public affairs, government relations, policy or a related area
  • Experience advising CEOs, Boards and/or senior public sector leaders
  • Strong executive judgment, relationship management and the ability to lead through influence
  • The ability to translate complex policy, financial, operational and organizational information into clear executive advice

This is a highly visible executive opportunity for a strategic, politically astute leader who understands both the machinery of government and the realities of leading a complex organization.

The position is based in the Greater Toronto Area and operates in a hybrid work environment.

Candidates selected for an initial discussion will receive further information about the organization and mandate as part of the confidential recruitment process.
