Vacancy: Replacement due to Retirement
Hours of work: Full-time, 35+ hours per week Monday to Friday, established office hours of 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM; however, schedule flexibility is required to meet stakeholder and organizational requirements and during events. This role is in person.
The mission of The Inn of the Good Shepherd (Sarnia) is to provide service with dignity to those in need of food, shelter, and other essentials. This important statement has guided our programs and how we serve people in the Sarnia-Lambton community for more than 40 years. Perhaps best known for our food programs, The Inn operates a food bank, soup kitchen, 2 homeless shelters, a mobile market, and so much more. With annual revenue of $8,000,000, more than 40 employees, and hundreds of volunteers, The Inn is the helping hands in our community, with a growing range of programs to respond to the ever-changing needs of society. Our programs are built to provide relief to households struggling with the challenges of poverty, of not having enough to make ends meet, of getting by day to day but not being able to handle every day, unexpected life crises and other expenses that arise. To this end, we provide support for clients to handle back to school expenses, birthdays, Christmas, healthy eating, illnesses, car repair to get to that part time job, and so on.
With the upcoming retirement of our long-standing Executive Director, we are currently seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to steer The Inn into the next phase of our story. We value leaders who communicate a clear vision, foster organizational alignment, and possess entrepreneurial skills to seize new opportunities. A proven focus on client service and effective relationship management is essential – you are eager to innovate and are dedicated to excellence, while respecting the history of how we came to be! We are looking for those who are passionate about developing others, adhere to strong values and ethics, and have exceptional planning and organizing abilities, robust problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced throughout our community.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for guiding the direction of The Inn and implementing short- and long-term strategic priorities. This includes, but is not limited to, governance, programs, leadership, operational and financial management, human resources, community visibility, and networking in alignment with the policies established by the Board and applicable provincial legislation.
