Manitoba Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures is looking for an experienced leader interested in filling the role of Executive Director, Manitoba Wildfire Service. Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, the Executive Director is responsible for developing and implementing all wildfire suppression strategies, programming and operations for Manitoba, ensuring that wildfire preparedness levels are met and maintained during wildfire season. The Executive Director is also responsible for managing all human resources, aircraft, equipment and supplies needed for fighting wildfires. The position oversees operation of the Manitoba Wildfire Service in all aspects across the entire province and is the primary liaison with emergency management partners during emergencies including wildfire and other hazards (ex. flood) where operational and logistical assistance is provided by the Manitoba Wildfire Service. The Executive Director is a designated officer with all accompanying powers authorized by the Wildfires Act including powers of arrest, entry, search and seizure and powers to initiate and extinguish fires.
