Uquutaq Society seeks an Executive Director to lead their organization in Iqaluit, Nunavut, focusing on strategic planning, community engagement, and operational management. We are seeking an Executive Director who can lead our organization into its next stage of growth while continuing to realize the mission and values established by the Board of Directors. A proven strategic and operational leader, the Executive Director will champion our program and organizational vision, oversee all operations, provide guidance and mentorship to the management team, and lead capital projects aligned with community commitments. Strategic Leadership and Planning : Lead strategic planning aligned with the organization's mission and vision, ensuring both long- and short-term strategic plans are implemented. Identify and manage organizational risk and opportunity across various areas including service delivery, finance, governance, legal compliance, and human resources. Advocate for policies and resources to combat homelessness and housing challenges in the community, engaging with government agencies and funders. Capital Development Projects : Provide leadership for all capital projects ensuring alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and strategic direction. Consult with community stakeholders on project development, ensuring projects meet community needs. Create and oversee comprehensive strategic plans for capital projects. Manage project consultants and contractors effectively from project concept to completion. Ensure effective construction administration and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Research and submit well-crafted grant proposals, securing funding from corporate, governmental, and private sources. Utilize technology for donor management, monitoring, and reporting progress towards fundraising goals. Establish financial controls and risk management strategies to safeguard organizational assets. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. Optimize operational expenses without compromising service quality. Facilities Oversight : Manage maintenance and operation of all facilities, ensuring safety and meeting evolving needs. Collaborate with local authorities and community organizations to enhance security measures. Design, develop, and implement culturally sensitive programs tailored to the needs of the Inuit community. Advocate for clients' rights, access to services, and housing stability within the community and with external agencies. Engage stakeholders in program planning and evaluation, ensuring alignment with community needs and priorities. Community Engagement : Advocate for policy changes, funding support, and system improvements to address systemic barriers and gaps in services. Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and service providers. Facilitate cultural competency training for staff and volunteers to ensure effective engagement with the Inuit community. Foster a positive organizational culture, implementing effective communication pipelines and performance management. Develop diversity, equity, and inclusion policies to ensure an inclusive and respectful organizational environment. Increase and enhance Inuit employment opportunities, overseeing the design and implementation of the Inuit employment plan. Provide support for HR-related matters, ensuring compliance with legal standards. Collaborate with the Board on organizational strategy and governance, providing regular updates and support for effective decision-making. Diploma or degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Public Policy or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience. Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a senior leadership role and minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the non-profit sector; preferably in housing and homelessness services. Broad experience in a range of relevant fields, including Human Resources Management, Accounting, Non-Profit Governance, Business Strategy. Knowledge of relevant federal and territorial legislation such as labour standards, privacy, residential tenancies Experience providing support to homeless, marginalized and / or Indigenous populations. Understanding and knowledge of treatment and supports for individuals with complex social and health needs. Demonstrated understanding of oppression and marginalization of the homeless. Experience building and leveraging strong relationships with internal partners, stakeholders and government agencies. Results-oriented, creative problem-solver able to provide practical solutions, guidance and proactively resolve issues. High level of critical thinking, analysis, and reasoning; An exceptional communicator – clear and concise – orally and in writing. Fluency in Inuktuk is a significant asset. Superior organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet tight timelines and deliver multiple high-level priorities with high-quality timely, on-budget results. open to learning new software.
