The Executive Director reports to the Vice President of Operations or designate and manages the use of human, physical, and financial resources to ensure high-quality resident care. This role holds ultimate responsibility for daily operations, resident care, and acts as the official spokesperson for the home. The Executive Director oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of privacy policies in compliance with legislation and standards, acting as the Privacy Officer for the Home.

Executive Director Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and review the mission, vision, and values of the Home.
  • Lead the development of special programs and participate in external committees to influence standards and initiatives.
  • Communicate strategic directions effectively.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to the Home.
  • Develop policies, ensure compliance with legislation, and support HR functions including recruitment, performance management, and labor issues.
  • Promote a person-centered care approach and support marketing and public relations efforts.
  • Engage in external committees and influence policy at the Ministry of Long-Term Care and other bodies.
  • Manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and oversee financial planning and risk management.
  • Ensure quality improvement and risk mitigation processes are in place.
  • Oversee privacy policies and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in health or social services, with relevant management experience in LTC.
  • Management training in long-term care administration.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of privacy legislation, health records, and legislation applicable to LTC.
  • Experience with electronic health records and complex projects.
  • Willingness to provide current Vulnerable Sector Check, TB testing, proof of vaccines, and references.
