Jobbeschreibung

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Executive Director, Enterprise Regional Enablement based in Canada.

The Executive Director, Enterprise Regional Enablement will lead the implementation and regional adaptation of enterprise operational risk management frameworks across multiple business units. This strategic leadership position serves as the primary link between enterprise risk functions and regional stakeholders, ensuring consistent standards while addressing local regulatory and operational requirements. The successful candidate will strengthen risk management capabilities, oversee regional control programs, and drive the adoption of enterprise methodologies and tools. Working closely with senior executives, business leaders, compliance teams, and internal audit professionals, they will promote a proactive risk culture and support informed decision-making. The role also involves developing high-performing teams, monitoring emerging regulatory developments, and ensuring regional risk insights contribute to enterprise-wide reporting and governance.

Accountabilities
  • Act as the primary operational risk enablement partner for regional business leaders, building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, compliance teams, Internal Audit, and other functions across the three lines of defense.

  • Adapt and implement enterprise risk management frameworks, methodologies, Key Risk Indicator (KRI) standards, taxonomies, and reporting tools to meet regional regulatory, linguistic, currency, and business-specific requirements while maintaining enterprise-wide consistency.

  • Lead and coordinate regional risk enablement activities, including Risk and Control Assessments (RCAs), KRI development, incident reporting, scenario analysis, and remediation planning. Coach first-line practitioners to develop the capabilities needed to manage risks independently.

  • Oversee the regional control program, ensuring consistent implementation of enterprise control standards, monitoring practices, control testing, and effectiveness assessments. Track control gaps and remediation initiatives while coordinating assurance activities with Internal Audit and compliance teams.

  • Strengthen regional risk management capabilities by coordinating training programs, practitioner communities, knowledge-sharing sessions, and regional roundtables. Promote operational risk awareness and support enterprise-wide change initiatives.

  • Monitor regulatory developments, emerging risks, and significant incidents across assigned regions. Escalate relevant developments to enterprise leadership and specialist Centers of Excellence (CoEs), ensuring timely assessment and appropriate follow-up.

  • Ensure regional risk data is accurate, reliable, and integrated into enterprise reporting processes. Provide regional insights and analysis to support executive briefings, Board Risk Committee discussions, and other governance forums.

  • Support regional risk quantification activities, including scenario analysis and loss modeling, in collaboration with specialist enterprise teams.

  • Represent regional business needs in enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platform decisions, encouraging effective adoption and utilization of risk management technologies and tools.

  • Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing regional team, overseeing performance management, talent development, succession planning, and ongoing capability building.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in operational risk management, enterprise risk, internal audit, internal controls, or a related second-line risk function within the financial services or insurance industry.

  • At least 5 years of people management experience, including leading and developing teams in regional, geographically dispersed, or matrixed environments.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry, with at least 3 years of experience working across multiple geographies, regulatory environments, or cultural contexts.

  • Strong expertise in operational risk management frameworks, including framework design, Risk and Control Assessments (RCA), Key Risk Indicators (KRI), scenario analysis, loss-event management, and control effectiveness methodologies.

  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant regulatory and industry frameworks, including NAIC ORSA, Solvency II, COSO, and ISO 31000.

  • Demonstrated experience translating enterprise-level risk strategies into practical regional execution plans that account for local requirements and business priorities.

  • Hands-on experience with Enterprise Integrated Risk Management and GRC platforms such as ServiceNow IRM, Archer, or MetricStream, as well as reporting and data visualization tools such as Power BI.

  • Proven proficiency in AI tools, spreadsheets, databases, and emerging technologies applied to risk reporting, analytics, and process improvement.

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse cultural, regulatory, and linguistic environments.

  • Experience driving organizational change and the adoption of new risk management frameworks, processes, and technologies, with a coaching-oriented approach to capability development.

  • Preferred experience includes 12+ years in operational risk management, particularly involving framework design and engagement with senior executives, regulators, and Board-level stakeholders.

  • Additional preferred qualifications include experience designing risk quantification approaches covering inherent and residual risk and control effectiveness, as well as professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, ORM, or CRMA.
