Job summary

Łı́ı́dlı̨ı̨ Kų́ę́ First Nation is seeking an experienced Executive Director to provide leadership and oversee administration, programs, services and day-to-day operations for the Nation.

Reporting to the Chief and Council, the Executive Director will guide strategic priorities, manage budgets and reporting, and build strong relationships with staff, community members and partners. Strong governance knowledge and community development experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in business administration, public administration, management, Indigenous governance or a related field.
  • Significant management and leadership experience.
  • Experience managing programs and delivering community-based services.
  • Experience in administration, budgeting and financial management.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing human resources.
  • Knowledge of First Nations governance, administration and community development.
  • Knowledge of First Nations issues, land claims and self-government initiatives.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, policies, procedures and funding agreements.
  • Experience working with government agencies, funding bodies and community organizations is an asset.

  • Develop, review and implement policies, procedures and operational standards.
  • Prepare reports, agendas, correspondence and other materials for Chief and Council and committees.
  • Maintain effective records, documentation and administrative systems.
  • Serve as a liaison with federal, territorial, regional, municipal and First Nation governments, agencies, organizations and businesses.
  • Support community development planning and implementation.
  • Identify funding opportunities and assist with proposals, projects and program development.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs and services to ensure they are meeting community needs.
  • Address membership concerns and work collaboratively with Chief and Council to respond to community priorities.
  • Ensure confidentiality, ethical conduct and responsible management of First Nation business.
  • Represent Łı́ı́dlı̨ı̨ Kų́ę́ First Nation at local, regional, territorial and national meetings as required.
  • Participate in community events, meetings, committees, training and other First Nation initiatives.

About the Position

Łı́ı́dlı̨ı̨ Kų́ę́ First Nation is seeking an experienced, dedicated and community-minded Executive Director to provide leadership and oversee the administration, programs, services and day-to-day operations of the First Nation.

Reporting to the Chief and Council, the Executive Director will provide professional leadership and support to Council while ensuring that the Nation's programs, services and operations are delivered effectively, responsibly, respectfully and in accordance with applicable legislation, policies, procedures, funding agreements and Council direction.

The successful candidate will be an organized and strategic leader who can build strong relationships with employees, community members, leadership, government agencies, organizations and business partners.
