Job description

Location: Powell River/qathet Regional District

Salary Or Wage: $40 to $42 per hour

Start Date: As soon as possible

Job Type: Part Time

List of Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of recent related leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with community-based fundraising and grant proposal writing
  • Knowledge of employee and volunteer development, program development, delivery and evaluation, outreach and communications and financial management ideally within a non-profit setting
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, priority-setting and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a Board of Directors, community partners, funders and donors
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, provide feedback and offer oversight to employees and volunteers

List of Duties

Leadership

  • Provide leadership and manage the day-to-day operations of FTHS, working closely with the team to implement programs and services aligned to the organizations strategic priorities
  • Establish productive working relationships with the Board of Directors, funding agencies, government agencies and community partners to ensure the sustainability and growth of hospice palliative care service delivery in the qathet Region.

Operations and Administration

  • Develops the FTHS strategic plan in partnerships with the Board of Directors.
  • Financial Management – Oversees all aspects of FTHS financial management including deposits, expense allocations and payroll
  • Develops the operational plan and annual budget for approval by the Board of Directors
  • Implements and oversees the operational plan and annual budget
  • Prepares and provides reports to the Board of Directors at board meetings and for the membership at the AGM
  • Keeps current with legislative and regulatory changes pertaining to the delivery of FTHS programs and services
  • Supports the development, updating and implementation of policies in partnership with the Board of Directors
  • Provides leadership of and support to the FTHS Fundraising Committee
  • Provides leadership and oversight for FTHS fundraising events and campaigns

Human Resources

  • Is responsible for recruitment, on-boarding, oversight and performance management of FTHS employees

Programs and Services

  • Identifies and acts on emerging needs and opportunities for program and development in partnership with the Manager of Programs
  • Ensures service standards for program development, implementation and evaluation
  • Promotes the FTHS programs and services to the community, government, agencies, media and other community partners in partnership with FTHS employees

Communications

  • Oversees donor recognition and communication activities
  • Oversees the Society’s communication platforms such as the website, social media and print communication
