About the Festival

The Collingwood Music Festival is a leading cultural event in South Georgian Bay, presenting internationally renowned artists, nurturing young talent, and building meaningful community engagement through the power of music. Now entering an exciting stage of growth, the festival is seeking a visionary and highly organized Executive Director to lead its operational and strategic development.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with the Artistic Director, the Executive Director will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and financial stewardship. This role will focus on advancing the festival’s long-term goals through strong fundraising, community partnerships, efficient administration, and dynamic audience engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategic Planning: Guide the organization in alignment with its mission and vision. Build strategic partnerships with community, government, corporate, and arts sector stakeholders.
  • Fundraising & Development: Lead all fundraising activities, including donor cultivation, annual giving campaigns, sponsorship acquisition, and grant writing. Expand and diversify the organization’s revenue streams.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and manage the annual operating budget in collaboration with the Board Treasurer and General Manager. Monitor project-specific budgets and ensure compliance with non-profit financial best practices.
  • Marketing & Public Engagement: Oversee marketing campaigns, branding, and audience development initiatives. Represent the festival publicly as a spokesperson and build strong relationships with media, donors, and community leaders.
  • Operations & HR: Supervise part-time staff and contractors. Oversee internal systems, workflows, and the implementation of technology tools (CRM, ticketing, etc.) to improve organizational efficiency. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Board Relations: Collaborate with the Board of Directors on governance matters, policy development, and strategic direction. Support board recruitment, reporting, and committee work.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of senior management experience in the arts, culture, or non-profit sector
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and securing sponsorships or major gifts
  • Experience overseeing budgets and managing operational processes
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strategic, results-oriented mindset with a hands-on approach
  • Knowledge of classical music or the performing arts is an asset, but not essential

Compensation

This is an independent contractor position beginning as a part-time role in 2026, with the expectation that it will grow into a full-time leadership position as the festival continues to expand. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, with potential for performance-based bonuses. Specific terms to be negotiated with the Board of Directors.
