A non-profit organization promoting tourism seeks an Executive Director to lead fundraising, stakeholder engagement, and community development. The ideal candidate should have experience in non-profits, strong public speaking abilities, and knowledge of East Texas history. This remote position offers a salary starting at $50,000 along with benefits including health insurance and paid time off.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Texas Forest Trail Region is a non-profit organization based in Nacogdoches, serving as the East Texas division of the Texas Heritage Trails Program (THTP) of the Texas Historical Commission. The THTP was established in 1968 to promote scenic driving routes and increase tourism in Texas. The Forest Region aims to encourage historic preservation, promote tourism, educate stakeholders, and support community and economic development across a 35-county area of East Texas. Key responsibilities include fundraising, teaching, public speaking, persuasive writing, accounting, business management, traveling, and marketing development.

LOCATION
This position is remote, with an office in Nacogdoches, TX. The selected candidate must reside within or relocate to the 35-county region before starting.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary starts at $50,000 plus benefits, depending on experience. Benefits include an annual health insurance stipend of $5,400, a monthly cell phone stipend of $40, paid time off, federal holidays, and travel/mileage reimbursement (own transportation required).
