Job description

Executive Chef

We are currently recruiting for an Executive Chef. This role is responsible for the consistent preparation of innovative, high-quality cuisine with excellent presentation and flavor for the restaurant, banquets, and other F&B facilities. The position involves daily leadership of the culinary department, including Culinary Leaders, Cooks, and Stewards. Collaborating with the General Manager and Director of Food & Beverage, the role also helps lead and manage the execution of the Hotel's Food & Beverage vision. The ideal candidate will be passionate, creative, and knowledgeable about current food and beverage trends, with strong presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead the Kitchen and Stewarding teams, fostering a culture of performance and engagement
  2. Develop and communicate service standards and support team training
  3. Provide positive leadership, coaching, and a professional work environment
  4. Manage food and labor costs, menu costing, and purchasing within guidelines
  5. Develop, cost, and implement menus, SOPs, and training programs
  6. Address guest concerns promptly and coach team members accordingly
  7. Analyze food & beverage pricing for competitiveness and revenue opportunities
  8. Participate in menu development and maintain accurate dish costing
  9. Ensure service aligns with the brand’s vision for exceptional experiences
  10. Conduct team meetings and facilitate communication
  11. Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise culinary staff
  12. Comply with health and safety regulations and report incidents
  13. Prioritize guest and team member well-being
  14. Perform additional duties, including assisting during peak periods
  15. Coordinate with support departments for seamless guest experiences
  16. Supervise payroll administration
  17. Attend relevant meetings and training
  18. Perform other duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For
  • 3-5 years’ experience as Executive Chef; 4-5 years as Executive Sous Chef in a full-service hotel
  • Diploma in culinary or hospitality field; Red Seal certification preferred
  • Hands-on leadership style with focus on team development
  • Proven experience in menu design and service excellence
  • Experience in unionized environments is an asset
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and PMS
  • Organized, results-oriented, and able to work under pressure
  • Motivational leadership and excellent communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and ‘Manager-On-Duty’ shifts
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
