Overview

Covenant Living is a non-profit partner in Alberta's integrated health system serving seniors of all faiths and backgrounds. We are committed to innovative approaches to support seniors in a caring community where they can thrive. The Executive Chef plays a vital role in bringing this mission to life. Reporting to the Site Manager, the Executive Chef will lead culinary operations at Evanston Summit with confidence and enthusiasm, fostering a culture where residents feel respected, valued, and part of a vibrant community. This role also inspires staff to bring their best selves to work, cultivating trust and high levels of satisfaction. The Executive Chef will be responsible for planning and implementing a resident-centered dining program that consistently delivers excellence and promotes well-being.

  • Champion innovation, presentation, and service excellence to enhance the overall quality of life for residents.
Education and Experience
  • Associate Degree in Culinary Arts, Red Seal Certification, or related culinary education
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum 3–5 years of culinary experience with demonstrated leadership in hospitality
  • Experience in a retirement living or senior care setting is an asset
  • Valid Food Safety and WHMIS certifications
  • Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to frequently lift and push/pull wheeled equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Regular bending, stooping, walking, stretching, and standing—often for up to 6 hours per day on various surfaces
  • Comfortable working in enclosed or confined spaces as needed
  • Capable of adapting to diverse physical environments and multitasking in a dynamic setting
