Job summary

Van Huigenbos Farms Ltd. seeks a skilled heavy equipment operator to work on the road across multiple sites in Alberta. You will operate backhoe excavator and loader, conduct pre-operational checks, and read blueprints to plan work sequences.

The role requires frequent travel, physical stamina, and adherence to safety and MSDS guidelines. A Class 1/A license is mandatory, with willingness to work at diverse locations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physically demanding work.
• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and drawings to plan operations.
• Operate heavy equipment safely and in accordance with MSDS procedures.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications to plan methods or sequences of operation.
• Read blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements.
• Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks.
• Measure distance, volume, length and weight.
• Operate computer controlled equipment.
• Understand MSDS information and apply safety practices.
• Complete onboard and other logs.
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment; secure attachments.
• Operate GPS and other navigation equipment.
• Operate two-way radios and other communication devices.
• Perform minor repairs to equipment.
• Operate hydraulic pumping systems.
