Job summary

Beem Credit Union in Burnaby is seeking an Everyday Banking Associate to support cash services and provide goal-based financial guidance at the Burnaby Branch.

You will handle deposits, withdrawals, and teller transactions while helping members use online banking and self-serve tools; you’ll engage customers with a personalized, advisory approach and promote digital banking adoption.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (asset: post-secondary in business/finance).
  • 1–2 years in customer service, cash handling or financial services preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all transactions.
  • Proven ability to build and strengthen member relationships through proactive engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a member-first mindset.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to digital banking tools and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily banking needs with personalized advisory and service delivery.
  • Lead cash-related activities: deposits, withdrawals, forex, cheque certification, teller transactions.
  • Maintain strict cash handling procedures with accurate balancing and fraud detection.
  • Support branch opening/closing activities and dual-control cash operations.
  • Act as the branch's primary resource for complex cash-related inquiries.
  • Welcome members and manage lobby flow for a positive experience.
  • Identify opportunities for savings, credit, or payment solutions during transactions.

The Everyday Banking Associate serves as a trusted frontline advisor with a primary focus on delivering accurate everyday cash services and supporting fraud prevention while providing goal‑based financial guidance. This is a sales‑driven role that grows the business through proactive relationship building, tailored advisory conversations and a focus on achieving member‑centric goal. The Associate delivers exceptional in‑branch experiences by balancing high‑volume transactional support with foundational financial coaching and digital onboarding. The incumbent champions Beem’s People First and Digital First values by meeting members where they are and leveraging digital tools to enhance efficiency, engagement, and long‑term financial confidence.

This role is based out of our Burnaby Branch.

Whatyou’lldo:
Everyday Banking and Cash Services
  • Execute day-to-day banking needs for members, ensuring personalized advisory and service delivery.
  • Lead all cash-related activities including deposits, withdrawals, foreign exchange, cheque certification, and other teller transactions.
  • Maintain strict adherence to cash handling procedures, ensuring accurate balancing and proactive fraud detection.
  • Support branch opening/closing activities and dual-control cash operations.
  • Act as the branch’s primary resource for complex cash-related inquiries.
Advice-First Member Engagement
  • Welcome members and manage lobby flow to ensure a positive branch experience.
  • Initiate needs discovery during transactions to identify opportunities for savings, credit, or payment solutions.
  • Provide tailored recommendations using everyday banking products and services.
  • Introduce and educate members on digital and self-serve tools (e.g., online banking, ATMs) for convenience and efficiency.
Financial Advice and Referrals
  • Engage members in conversations to uncover financial goals and recommend appropriate everyday banking solutions.
  • Educate members on available financial options, tools, and benefits to support informed decision-making.
  • Fulfill lending assessments and needs, referring complex needs to specialized lending and insurance growth partners, ensuring a seamless member experience.
Digital Empowerment
  • Provide coaching on self-serve tools during or after member interactions.
  • Troubleshoot in-the-moment issues, such as card access or mobile banking setup.
  • Support digital migration initiatives while maintaining excellence in in-person service delivery.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in business or finance is an asset.
  • 1-2 years' experience in customer service, cash handling, or financial services preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all transactions.
  • Proven ability to establish, nurture, and strengthen member relationships through trust and proactive engagement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a member-first mindset.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to digital banking tools and processes.
  • Equivalent combination of the above may be appropriate.
