Job description

Store - THUNDER BAY, ON

Overview: Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids' birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by assisting customers with their shopping needs, ensuring a fast and friendly checkout, and completing operational tasks such as truck unloads, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards to uphold our Brand Promises.

Event Coordination:

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes.
  • Create a fun and creative environment for clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+.
  • Demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting, and other activities.
  • Implement party add-ons like goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
  • Communicate event details effectively with clients and store team members.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as emails, phone calls, and paperwork.
  • Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans as necessary.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for all scheduled events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards; set up, break down, and clean after each event.

Customer Experience:

  • Assist customers in locating products and providing solutions.
  • Offer a quick and friendly checkout experience.
  • Engage customers in Rewards program and Private Label Credit Card benefits, including enrollment.
  • Educate customers about Voice of Customer (VOC) surveys.
  • Support Omni-channel processes like BOPIS and SFS.
  • Participate in truck unloads, stocking, and planogram (POG) updates.
  • Perform merchandise recovery, store in-stock optimization (SISO), and AD set duties.
  • Support shrink and safety programs.
  • Follow SOPs and company policies to ensure compliance with laws and standards.
  • Interact respectfully with others, promote a positive image, and serve as a role model.
  • Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to move throughout the store, including bending, lifting, reaching, and stretching.
  • Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves with ladders.
  • Work may include outdoor activities, stockroom work, and working in climate-controlled or non-controlled environments.
  • Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
