Job Summary

The Events & Community Coordinator is a sales professional passionate about selling the sports and event experience with a differentiated competitive advantage. Working both inside and outside the Sports Complex, this position primarily handles Game Deck, Birthday Party sales, and event bookings, coordinating the facility's surface flow, including Birthday Parties, and managing event spaces such as the Canlan Room, Game Deck sport simulators, and Family Entertainment Centre.

This role supports the entire sales and community outreach process: from raising awareness and promoting the facility's offerings to introducing the facility to prospects and maintaining ongoing communication throughout the customer 'life-cycle.'

Accountabilities
  1. Business Goals, Planning, and Work Management
    • Support adherence to the Canlan Mission, Vision, and Values, policies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Manage and maintain complex operating systems related to surface flow and event spaces.
    • Develop clientele for Birthday Parties, Corporate Events, and other rental opportunities.
    • Coordinate events from planning to execution, acting as the primary guest contact.
    • Build relationships with local schools and organizations to promote services.
    • Manage contracts, payments, and outstanding receivables.
    • Assist in developing sales strategies and community outreach plans.
    • Perform duties as Manager On Duty and support the Sales Coordinator as needed.
  2. Team Development and Customer Focus
    • Ensure customers experience exceptional service and satisfaction.
    • Develop and maintain customer relationships for revenue maximization and business sustainability.
    • Coordinate in-house tournaments and act as the point of contact for third-party events.
  3. Decision Making and Results
    • Assist in managing contracts and accounts receivable.
    • Provide performance reports and strategic recommendations.
    • Support other departments to meet complex goals.
Operational Responsibilities
Safety
  • Follow all risk management policies and safety standards.
  • Ensure staff are trained in emergency response and safety procedures.
  • Maintain safety equipment and report unsafe conditions.
Energy & Environmental Management
  • Implement best practices in energy use and environmental impact.
Abilities, Attributes, and Experience
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in business, marketing, or recreation (asset).
  • 1-2 years' experience in sports/recreation environment (asset).
  • Proven sales experience, especially in closing deals.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and social media platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with flexible hours.
