Position Overview

We are seeking an Events & Communications Coordinator to join our Community Engagement & Major Events team. The role involves coordinating event planning and execution related to domestic student recruitment and community engagement, developing the Student Ambassador program, coordinating campus tours, liaising with faculties and departments, and managing budgets for various programs and events.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public or Community Relations, or related field, plus at least two years of experience in event planning and communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Administrative experience is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Proven experience in developing promotion plans for events.
  • Ability to anticipate project needs, prioritize work, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills, capable of guiding diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Knowledge of the BC education system and KPU is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Drupal, Survey Monkey, and experience with student information systems like BANNER and CRM systems are assets.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required, possess a valid driver’s license, and have access to a vehicle.
