Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Office of Institutional Events, the Events and Communications Coordinator provides events and communications support for the Division of the President. The role involves facilitating the integration of events and communications to encourage and enhance stakeholder relations, fostering growing levels of engagement and support for the University. This includes acting as a resource for university events, while coordinating communications.

Education:

  • College Diploma in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, Digital Communications, Visual Art, Event Management, Public Relations, Hospitality, or an equivalent of 2 (two) years recent experience working at York University performing similar tasks. Knowledge of fundraising standards and ethics is required. Professional writing certification is an asset. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

Experience:

  • At least three (3) years in the communication field, including:
  • Writing and producing digital and print communications such as formal invitations and event programs
  • Project Management
  • Event coordination
  • Producing multimedia communications (photographs)
  • Developing work-back schedules and critical paths
  • Making recommendations on scope of work and resources needed
  • Recruitment and coordination of students and volunteers
