Job summary

PLEA Community Services in Maple Ridge, BC is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Youth Care Worker for the Lighthouse team. The role supports youth with moderate to severe behavioural challenges in a staffed resource home, with hours Tue-Sat 4:00 PM–12:00 AM (40 hrs/wk).

The contract is 12 months with potential extension and requires BCGEU membership. The Youth Care Worker will address the youths’ physical, emotional, social, educational and medical needs, promote healthy routines, and ensure safety.

Qualifications

• Diploma (60 credits/two years) in a related human/social services field.
• Over six months of recent related experience.
• Equivalencies considered (1 year college + 2.5 years experience or 0 years college + 4.5 years experience).

Responsibilities

• Monitor youth in residential settings and ensure safety and well-being; report incidents as needed.
• Coordinate with Family Caregivers and staff; liaise with schools and community partners.
• Provide feedback, teach coping techniques, and offer one-to-one or group guidance.
• Teach life skills: meal prep, housekeeping, personal care, budgeting as required by service plans.
• Participate in assessments, goal setting, and program planning for youth in staffed homes.
