Job summary

The Autism Aspergers Friendship Society of Calgary (AAFS) is seeking a Social Experience Guide to help facilitate social and recreational programs for youth and adults, creating welcoming, inclusive environments where participants can build confidence and friendships.

You will support neurodivergent individuals with empathy, problem-solving, and behaviour support, collaborate with a supportive team, and help plan engaging activities across AAFS programs with flexibility in scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
  • Preference given to candidates with 3 years of uninterrupted vehicle insurance and no at-fault accidents.
  • Preference for those enrolled in human services or disability programs, or with equivalent experience.
  • Equivalent experience may include parenting, caregiving, mentoring, or community support.
  • Able to provide a clean Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and a clear Intervention Record Check.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate social and recreational activities across AAFS programs.
  • Create safe, inclusive spaces for social exploration and relationship building.
  • Support participants in developing social thinking, emotional regulation, and life skills.
  • Contribute to program planning, preparation, and development.
  • Respond thoughtfully to behaviours and changing participant needs.
  • Work collaboratively with team members while taking initiative independently.
  • Bring energy and a sense of fun to each program.
