ETL Developer – Informatica & SQL
We are seeking an experienced ETL and Database Developer with a strong background in the insurance industry to support and enhance finance-related data solutions. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in Informatica PowerCenter, Informatica BDM, and PostgreSQL to design and maintain complex ETL processes and database systems that enable accurate financial reporting and analytics. This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week on-site at the Markham head office.
What is in it for you:
• Salaried: $95-100 per hour.
• Incorporated Business Rate: $100-109 per hour.
• 6-month contract with the potential for permanent employment.
• Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.
• Hybrid model – 3 days per week on-site, subject to change.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into finance systems.
• Develop and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures in PostgreSQL.
• Monitor daily/monthly jobs and resolve any failures.
• Collaborate with finance and insurance teams to understand data requirements and ensure data integrity and accuracy.
• Build ad hoc reports based on business requirements.
• Perform data analysis and troubleshooting to resolve data-related issues.
• Implement data quality checks and validation processes.
• Develop complex financial calculations using Postgres stored procedures or ETL.
• Monitor and enhance the performance of ETL processes and database systems.
• Document technical specifications and maintain comprehensive documentation of ETL processes and database schemas.
• Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in ETL and data management.
What you will need to succeed:
• Experience in the insurance industry with familiarity in underwriting data terminology.
• Experience supporting finance systems.
• Proven experience as an ETL Developer using Informatica PowerCenter (10.5.7) and Informatica BDM.
• Proven experience as a Database Developer with expertise in writing DDLs and DMLs for relational databases.
• Strong ability to write complex SQL queries for ad hoc reporting.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
• Proficient in Unix scripting.
• Experience with automation tools such as Control-M and ASG ZENA.
• Experience with reporting tools such as SAP Business Objects or Qlik.
• Experience with Agile methodology and JIRA.
• Proficiency in drafting and understanding business requirement documents.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Informatica Certified Professional (ICP) and/or Foundation Level Certifications (IDMC, CDCG, MDM).
• Experience with database systems such as Oracle, Postgres, and MySQL; SQL Associate Certification is an asset.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Qlik, Python, Power BI, or SAP BO.
