Job summary

Ledcor Highways Ltd is seeking an Estimator with highway construction expertise. The role involves preparing detailed estimates, reviewing tender documents, and coordinating with trades and suppliers.

This position offers growth with training for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will perform quantity take-offs, cost analyses, and develop conceptual estimates, while maintaining estimating systems and striving for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Estimating, Engineering, or a related field.
• 0-5 years of related estimating experience, preferably in highway construction.
• Knowledge of construction practices, methods, equipment, costs, and budgeting.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and documents, assess their completeness, and develop project schedules.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, InEight Estimate, Primavera P6, and related estimating software is preferred.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking an Estimator with expertise in highway construction, but we are willing to train the right individual. You will prepare accurate, competitive estimates for a range of projects, including lump sum, unit rate, and cost-plus work. This role involves quantity take-offs, cost analysis, bid preparation, and collaboration with project teams, trades, and suppliers.

Essential Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed project estimates, including site visits, quantity take-offs, pricing, and submissions for management review


• Review drawings, specifications, proposals, and other tender documents to develop accurate and competitive bids


• Coordinate with trades and suppliers on pricing, addenda, invitations, and bid closings


• Prepare clear, well-documented quantity take-offs for handover to project teams, incorporating applicable safety and security requirements

• Office/field role based out of our Leduc location


• 5 day on 2 day off schedule


• Travel will be required approximately 20%
