If you’re ready to take on a dynamic role where precision, collaboration, and innovation drive results, we encourage you to join our team. Together, we’ll continue to set the standard for excellence in construction.

Reporting to the Manager of Underground Deep Utilities, the Estimator/Project Manager will specialize in deep utility and underground infrastructure for residential, commercial, industrial, and large-scale City of Calgary projects in Calgary and surrounding area. This role focuses on preparing detailed, accurate cost estimates and managing complex deep utility installations — including water, sanitary, storm systems, and other critical underground infrastructure. The position combines estimating expertise with hands-on project management, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution from start to finish.

How You’ll Add Value
  • Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
  • Lead estimating and project management efforts specifically for deep underground utility projects including large-diameter pipe installations, deep sanitary and storm sewers, and complex utility tie-ins
  • Coordinate with internal teams, field crews, and clients throughout all phases of project construction to ensure seamless project execution and delivery
  • Conduct onsite inspections during project execution to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with project requirements
  • Maintain accurate project records to ensure efficient delivery, reconciled billings, and final invoicing
  • Participate in securing new work by preparing estimates and proposals as part of the core team
  • Prepare estimating takeoffs, bid estimates, and attend pre-tender meetings to review specifications and drawings
  • Measure and confirm field measurements for final billing reconciliation and project accuracy
  • Partner with supervisors to align skill development with position requirements and future opportunities
  • Build strong relationships with the civil construction community, including consultants, associations, and clients
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries with a problem-solving approach
  • Support and guide field teams to ensure safe operations, steady project progression, and optimized service delivery
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
Qualifications & Experience
  • 4+ years of estimating experience, or a combination of field and estimating experience in deep underground environments
  • CET, BScPM, P. Eng. preferred; a combination of relevant education and heavy civil construction experience will be considered
  • Experience with construction software such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Viewpoint, and InEight
  • Strong skills in reading and interpreting plans and specifications, and highly analytical with mathematical aptitude
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusting, credible relationships, handling interactions constructively, addressing challenges proactively, and ensuring service and delivery standards are optimized
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including overtime, and travel throughout the Calgary area as required
How We Make It Count
  • 100% Employer-Paid Benefits: Enjoy industry-leading comprehensive health and wellness coverage
  • RRSP: Build your future with employer RRSP contributions for eligible employees.
