Job summary

The role involves organizing tender documents, takeoffs, cost estimates, subcontractor quotes, and coordination with engineering and operations for design-build methods, site visits, and handover to construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering.
• At least 3 years in estimating, project engineering, or construction in heavy civil/geotechnical sectors.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, quote management, and cost estimates.
• Exposure to scheduling, cost control, or change management.
• Knowledge of estimating software and Excel; bilingual English/French is assets.

Responsibilities

Purpose of the Role

Soletanche Bachy Canada is hiring an Estimator / Project Coordinator to support its Major Projects group. The role supports tender preparation and, after project award, may provide direct project delivery support.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize tender documents, addenda, and bid correspondence.


• Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications.


• Solicit, manage, and compare subcontractor and vendor quotes.


• Identify tender risks and constructability gaps, and prepare cost estimates.


• Work with engineering and operations teams on design-build solutions, construction methods, and preliminary schedules.


• Attend site visits and client or stakeholder meetings as required.


• Support handover to construction and, where required, assist with scheduling, claims, cost control, and stakeholder communication.


• Participate in the company’s Health and Safety Program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.


• At least 3 years of estimating, project engineering, project coordination, or construction experience in heavy civil, deep foundations, ground improvement, excavation support, tunnelling, or geotechnical construction.


• Experience with quantity takeoffs, quote management, and cost estimates; exposure to project delivery activities such as scheduling, cost control, or change management.


• Estimating software, takeoff tools, scheduling software, and advanced Excel experience are preferred.


• Bilingual English and French skills and relevant professional designations are assets. Travel across Canada may be required.
