As an Estimator/ Coordinator at Fire and Flood, you play a critical role in the planning and execution of restoration and construction projects by preparing accurate, detailed cost estimates and scopes of work. Working closely with Project Managers and insurance adjusters, you will assess damages, interpret project requirements, and develop estimates that support successful project delivery. Your expertise ensures that bids are competitive, realistic, and aligned with industry standards, insurance guidelines, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate project scope, materials, labour, and timelines
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for restoration and construction projects, including residential, commercial, and insurance-related work
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and client requirements to develop comprehensive scopes of work
- Collaborate with Project Managers and field teams to ensure feasibility and alignment between estimates and execution
- Communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, and vendors to gather information and clarify project needs
- Use estimating software and templates to prepare formal proposals and bid documents
- Review and revise estimates based on project changes, scope adjustments, or client feedback
- Maintain a database of pricing, suppliers, and subcontractors to support accurate forecasting and cost control
Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience in restoration and construction
- Familiarity with insurance industry is an asset
- Xactimate and XactAnalysis knowledge an asset
- In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry pricing
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and scopes
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with clients, vendors, and internal teams
- Proficiency in estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital documentation tools
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and under pressure
- Valid driver’s license and availability for site visits
