Andritz Canada is seeking an Estimator and Proposal Manager in Boucherville, QC. You will prepare technical and commercial bids for turnkey hydroelectric projects and collaborate with specialists to ensure complete and high-quality submissions.

You report to the Director - Proposals and Estimates and will lead bid activities, negotiate with external partners, and ensure a smooth handover to delivery once contracts are awarded.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in proposal/sales, procurement or construction.
• Fluent in French and English.
• Strong project management for multiple complex tasks daily.
• Effective written and oral communication in a multi-stakeholder environment.
• Proven leadership within a team.
• Strong problem solving, initiative and creativity.
• Commercial contract knowledge and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of hydroelectric products and market is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Analyze plans, specs, and commercial/technical clauses of calls for tender.
• Participate in bid strategy, risk assessment and clarifications.
• Prepare and issue RFQs to suppliers and subcontractors, follow up.

The Estimator and Proposal Manager is responsible for preparing technical and commercial bids for turnkey hydroelectric projects. He works in collaboration with different specialists and ensures completeness and the quality of the submissions.

He plays a key role in the team and reports to the Director - Proposals and Estimates.

The following responsibilities form the core of this role in our Canadian team.

• Analyze the plans, specifications, commercial and technical clauses of the calls for tender;
• Participate in the bid strategy, project risk assessment and clarifications;
• Prepare and issue requests for quotation (RFQs) to suppliers and subcontractors and follow up on responses;
• Contribute to the preparation of the risk and opportunity matrix;
• Create a schedule of bid activities and follow up with the various stakeholders;
• Organize and lead the required internal meetings in accordance with bid management processes;
• Create the preliminary project schedule, the critical path and the manpower curve;
• Perform technical and financial calculations, cashflow forecasts, "WBS" and budget cost coding;
• Write certain sections of the proposals both in French and English;
• Facilitate and lead the decision-making process within the team on strategic issues;
• Negotiate with external companies and create partnerships;
• Establish the winning strategy with the agreement of senior management, validate it as an appropriate strategy and ensure that it is followed by team members;
• Submit the offer and participate in negotiations with the customer;
• Ensure a smooth transition to the delivery team upon receipt of the contract.

• Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology diploma;

• Fluency in French and English languages;
• Project Management skills – ability to handle multiple complex tasks daily;
• Effective communication skills (oral & written) in a multi-stakeholder environment;
• Proven leadership ability within a team context;
• Excellent problem solving and decision making skills, initiative and creativity;
• Commercial contract knowledge and strong negotiation skills;
• Knowledge of products, technical aspects and market related to hydroelectric business (an asset).
