Job summary

PCL Construction is seeking an Estimator to lead and contribute to construction estimates across projects. You will analyze contract documents, perform quantity take-offs, and assist in preparing tender submissions.

You will work with bid teams, subtrades, and suppliers to solicit competitive pricing and identify risks while supporting the pursuit schedule. This role emphasizes mentoring junior staff and maintaining project documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related discipline or equivalent trade experience.
• General understanding of construction cost estimating processes.
• Familiarity with specifications, drawings, materials, methods, and construction procedures.
• Knowledge of bid preparation principles, including quantity takeoff, procurement, pricing, and bid-closing procedures.
• Understanding of different construction delivery methods such as hard bid, GMP, unit price, design-build, target pricing, and cost reimbursable contracts.
• Awareness of compensation models, market conditions, business trends, and competitive landscape.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including subtrade partners and suppliers.
• Proficiency in estimating software and advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.

• Assist with bid-day activities and collaborate with other estimators to ensure successful bid submission.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including estimators, bid teams, subtrade partners, and suppliers.

• Contribute to the development of a critical path schedule for the estimate or pursuit.
