We provide emergency response and rebuild/restoration services to residential, commercial, and industrial clients affected by water, fire, wind, weather, trauma, vehicle impacts, and other perils. Canstar also manages hazardous materials such as asbestos, mold, lead, and fuel.

Position Overview

This role involves working closely with the Project Management team to ensure insurer program compliance and prepare insurer-required estimate reports. The estimator will communicate with various stakeholders to ensure accuracy of photos and project data in Xactimate and gather additional information as needed. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, highly organized, and experienced in property damage restoration and insurance industries. The role may also support other projects within the Canstar Group of Companies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review, translate, and input Project Manager narratives into Xactimate
  • Review photos and extrapolate work done into Xactimate line items
  • Utilize Docusketch for pre- and post-demo walkthroughs
  • Review subtrade quotes and invoices for translation into Xactimate
  • Prepare estimates for EME, ABA, CON, and REP
  • Coordinate with project teams and external stakeholders to ensure insurer compliance
  • Provide data on project margins
  • Create repair estimates from emergency estimates
  • Read and interpret HMA reports and moisture readings
  • Update estimating progress with notes and dates
  • Follow up for estimate reviews and escalate non-responses
  • Prepare insurer-specific reports based on estimates
  • Understand insurer protocols
Health and Safety
  • Adhere to health and safety practices and procedures
  • Maintain good housekeeping for safety and efficiency
  • Wear required PPE on site

  • Strong use of shortcut keys and knowledge of 50+ Xactimate categories
  • Understanding of room properties, variables, and system corrections
  • Knowledge of roofing and valuation tools
  • Ability to create macros and retrieve data efficiently
  • Excellent customer service skills
Working Conditions
  • Report from any Canstar branch; travel may be required
  • Monday to Friday, with flexible start/end times and occasional early mornings
