Position Overview

This role involves working closely with the Project Management team to ensure insurer program compliance and prepare insurer-required estimate reports. The estimator communicates with various stakeholders to ensure accuracy in photos and project data in Xactimate, and gathers additional information as needed. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, highly organized, and has significant experience in property damage restoration and insurance industries. The role may also support other projects within the Canstar Group of Companies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Translate and input Project Manager narratives into Xactimate.
  2. Review photos and extrapolate work done into Xactimate line items.
  3. Utilize Docusketch for pre- and post-demolition walkthroughs.
  4. Review subtrade quotes and invoices for translation into Xactimate line items.
  5. Prepare estimates such as EME, ABA, CON, and REP.
  6. Coordinate with project teams and stakeholders to ensure insurer program compliance.
  7. Communicate estimate revisions and questions with external stakeholders via web portals.
  8. Provide data on project margins and project status updates.
  9. Create complete repair estimates from emergency estimates.
  10. Interpret HMA reports and moisture readings to determine affected areas and equipment needs.
  11. Update estimating workflows and follow up to ensure timely reviews.
  12. Escalate non-responses appropriately.
  13. Prepare insurer reports based on estimates and understand insurer protocols.

Health and Safety

  • Adhere to Canstar’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping for safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure proper PPE usage on site.

Who We Are Looking For

A personable, organized individual with a strong analytical and administrative background, ideally experienced in property damage restoration and insurance. Key attributes include:

  • Thorough knowledge of insurer protocols.
  • Proficiency with setup, dimensions, and scopes in Xactimate.
  • Strong use of shortcut keys and familiarity with 50+ categories in Xactimate.
  • Understanding of claim info, parameters, and estimation strategies.
  • Knowledge of roofing and valuation tools.
  • Ability to create macros and correct system glitches.
  • Excellent customer service skills internally and externally.

Working Conditions

  • Work may be based out of any Canstar branch.
  • Occasional travel to other branches and job sites.
  • Monday to Friday, with flexible start/end times; some early mornings possible.
