Job summary

Hatch Ltd. is seeking a Estimating Co-op Student for a 4-month internship beginning in January 2027 at our Mississauga, ON office. Reporting to the Project Controls Manager in the Project Management & Construction group, you will support offices globally from Mississauga.

You will develop project Capital Cost Estimates across AACE classes and Hatch classifications, adhering to guidelines and using first principles where applicable.

Qualifications

• Be currently enrolled in an Engineering degree program at an accredited university.
• Strong MS Office skills and experience with estimating tools and systems.
• Site experience, knowledge of D.F.L and production rates is an asset.
• Knowledge of EPC/LSTK estimating techniques and commercial/contracts awareness.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed project Capital Cost Estimates across AACE classes 1–5 and Hatch classifications.
• Conform to project lifecycle processes and estimating guidelines.
• Understand scope, format, and reporting for estimates; deliver accurate estimates.

Hatch is seeking a Estimating Co-op Student for a 4-month internship beginning in January 2027. Reporting to the Project Controls Manager in the Project Management & Construction group you will support offices globally working from our Mississauga, ON office location.

Summary

• Detail development of project Capital Cost Estimate through the range of AACE International Class 1 to 5 and / or Hatch estimate classifications (FEL 1, 2, 3 and 4).
• Conformance to the Project Lifecycle Process, Global and Regional Estimating Guidelines and sound first principle estimating techniques.

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Understand estimating scope of work, deliverables, schedule of execution, estimate structure,formats, reports etc.
• Familiarize yourself with the estimate plan
• Deliver an accurate and comprehensive estimate in accordance with estimating procedures, standards and practices
• Calculate direct and indirect costs from a first principal basis or factorization as applicable
• Calculate cash expenditure predicted escalation over project duration
• Monitor and upgrade of estimating database.

Qualifications and Experience

• Be currently enrolled in an Engineering degree program at an accredited University
• Have previous experience in a first principle estimating environment, ideally on large multi-discipline projects in an EPCM environment throughout various classes of estimate, an asset
• Have strong MS Office skills and experience with estimating tools and systems
• Have site experience, including hands-on knowledge of D.F.L and production rates.
• Have knowledge of EPC/LSTK estimating techniques
• Have commercial/ contractual knowledge
