A leading shipbuilding company located in Victoria is seeking an Estimating Clerk to provide administrative support to the Estimating and Commercial Departments. The position requires 3-5 years of office experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with various software tools. This role is fully on-site at 825 Admirals Road. Job Description

The Estimating Clerk is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Estimating and Commercial Departments. The Estimating Clerk will report directly to the Senior Manager, Commercial.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 825 Admirals Road, Victoria.

What You'll Do

  • In conjunction with Estimating Clerk (Admin 3), processes estimates and prepares quotations for HCWP Program, including all 1379s via the VSL Collaborative Environment.
  • Tracks the approval status of additional work on a vessel using Excel as required
  • Using JD Edwards, creates job control reports, time and material reports, as well as updates project budgets to include approved additional work.
  • Assists with Commercial Quotes, Letters of Interest, Invitation to Tender and Request for Proposals in accordance with individual bid tender requirements.
  • Assists with Commercial change orders for approval of extra work in accordance with individual contract requirements.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of data, lists and project information for distribution and filing.
  • Maintains accurate filing including electronic and paper filing.
  • Maintains all information and documents in a confidential manner
  • Other duties as required


What You'll Bring

  • Completion of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent in Office Administration
  • 3-5 years office experience, preferably within shipbuilding/ship repair industry
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Proficient knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Proficient knowledge of SharePoint
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure while being adaptable to change
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize
  • Work with minimal direction
  • Strong oral and written communications skills; excellent knowledge of the English language
  • Security clearance required

Pay: $33.11/hour

This is a unionized position and the pay rate for this position is set out in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. The rate stated above is the starting rate for this position, and will progress as per the collective agreement.
