Job description

We are currently seeking a general assistant to support our busy Estates Department. This in-office position is located at our Chilliwack office and is available immediately. It may be suitable for Practicum Students, newly graduated Legal Administrative Assistants, or individuals with general professional office experience, even without legal background. The role may also appeal to experienced legal assistants seeking to re-enter the legal industry after a break.

The main duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Preparing files for new client meetings (authorizations, estate info sheets, searches)
  2. Opening files, including preparing tables, notarial/certified copies, notices to creditors, and simple inquiry letters
  3. Following up with banks and institutions via email and phone to request responses to inquiry letters
  4. Preparing transmission of estate documents to executors
  5. Paying bills, depositing cheques, and sending letters regarding estate expenses
  6. Filing

You will report directly to a Senior Paralegal and other Legal Assistants, providing an excellent environment for ongoing training and development.

The ideal candidate will be mature, detail-oriented, possess strong communication and writing skills, work well in a team, and have excellent computer skills, especially in our increasingly paperless practice.
