Responsibilities

  • Assist in the delivery of our consumer insolvency services
  • Working directly with individuals and small businesses in financial difficulty to assess their situation, and assist them in understanding the options available to them under the provisions of the Bankruptcy & Insolvency Act (BIA)
  • Strategic thinking about the Debtor’s needs by understanding all risks and options, conferring with Trustees on higher risk client acceptance engagements
  • Oversee the preparation of documents and required filings such as: Statement of Affairs, Proposals, cash flow statements
  • Conducting follow-up calls and correspondence with Debtors
  • Administer formal insolvency appointments including bankruptcies, consumer and Division I proposals
  • Processing of insolvency documents during file administration can be dependent upon experience, such as monthly income and expense reports, Statement of Receipts & Disbursements
  • Ensure compliance with certain deadlines and filing requirements of the BIA
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
  • Identify ways to maximize the relationships with stakeholders and deliver added value
  • Assist in developing and coaching junior team members as required and maintain high quality control
  • Attend internal MNP and external courses as required to further develop knowledge and skills
  • Develop relationships with referral sources, promote MNP insolvency and advisory services through delivery of presentations and participating in community activities
  • Backup in providing BIA counselling sessions
Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience working in the area of consumer insolvency, minimum of 2 years experience doing direct consultations
  • Completion of the Insolvency Administrator’s Course
  • Completion of the Insolvency Counsellor’s Qualification Course is an asset
  • Some type of accounting, payroll or related experience will be an asset
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, MS Teams and other virtual software
  • Strong knowledge of Ascend insolvency software
  • Working knowledge of the Bankruptcy & Insolvency Act
  • Ability to work flexible hours in order to meet Debtor’s needs, which can be adjusted based on your circumstances
  • Attention to detail and proof-reading
  • Some travel may be required. This position could be based in Calgary or the Central Alberta region, travel to Red Deer as required
