Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior ESG engagement specialist to define and evolve engagement strategy for external managers and portfolios, and to steer proxy voting policy and governance positions.

The role requires deep knowledge of ESG frameworks, shareholder engagement, and regulatory requirements, with fluency in French and advanced English, and a CFA or ESG certification preferred. You will lead dialogues with managers and report on responsible investment practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, public policy, law, sustainability, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• CFA designation or ESG-related certification.
• In-depth knowledge of shareholder engagement, proxy voting, and stewardship practices.
• Fluency in French and advanced English.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve ESG engagement strategy for external managers and investment portfolios.
• Develop the strategic direction of the proxy voting policy.
• Develop voting guidelines and institutional positions on governance, climate, social, and shareholder rights issues.
• Analyze shareholder resolutions and formulate recommendations on complex or high-risk matters.
• Establish escalation mechanisms and stewardship practices that promote responsible governance.
• Lead strategic dialogues with external managers to influence the advancement of their ESG practices.
• Produce ESG analyses and reports for external disclosures and accountability purposes.
• Represent the organization before associations, bodies, and collaborative sustainable investment initiatives.
• Develop performance indicators and monitoring mechanisms related to engagement, stewardship, and proxy voting activities.
• Monitor strategic developments in responsible investment trends, standards, and regulatory requirements.
