Job summary

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position in British Columbia. You will provide direct patient care, assess needs, plan and evaluate nursing interventions, and work with an interprofessional team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Post-graduate course work in emergency nursing or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients and collects information; diagnoses, plans, intervenes and evaluates care.
  • Collaborates with patients and families to develop and modify the care plan; promotes privacy and autonomy.
  • Participates in care and discharge planning; updates care plan with interprofessional team.
  • Coordinates nursing care; sets priorities, delegates tasks and arranges referrals.
  • Collaborates with Physicians, LPNs, and other professionals to adjust care plans.
  • Teaches patients and families about illness prevention and health maintenance.
  • Plans referrals with the team and initiates referrals to community agencies.
  • Documents assessments, diagnoses, interventions, and outcomes per Fraser Health standards.
  • Participates in nursing committees and quality improvement activities.
  • Acts as a preceptor or mentor for new staff and students.
  • Provides feedback to leadership on the effectiveness of care programs.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
