Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Membership and Intersectionality Initiatives, in collaboration with the Project Lead at ARAISA, the Equity Stream Project Coordinator conducts comprehensive scans and mapping of grassroots organizations, focusing on equity-deserving populations in the Atlantic provinces. This role involves evaluating organizational assets and needs, building relationships, and documenting findings. The coordinator also collaborates on member engagement activities, coordinates meetings, and supports capacity-building efforts. This position is set to start May 2025, with the possibility of renewal pending funding approval.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Environmental Scan and Mapping of Grassroots Organizations

  1. Environmental Scans: Conduct comprehensive scans and mapping of grassroots organizations, focusing on equity-deserving populations in the Atlantic provinces.
  2. Evaluate Assets: Identify and assess organizational and service delivery assets, documenting gaps and needs.
  3. Methodology Collaboration: Work with stakeholders to define consistent methodologies.
  4. Relationship Building: Use desk reviews and interviews to establish connections with grassroots organizations.
  5. Report Findings: Compile findings into a stocktaking report, summarizing mapping results and organizational capacities, published in French and English.
  6. Develop Online Tools: Contribute to creating online mapping tools for NBMC’s and ARAISA’s websites to maintain engagement with grassroots organizations.

Member Engagement

  1. Collaborate on Tours: Work with the Director of Membership and Intersectionality Initiatives and the member engagement team on two annual membership tours.
  2. Engage with Members: Actively engage with ethnocultural and BIPOC member organizations to foster relationships and address needs.
  3. Recruit Representatives: Assist in recruiting representatives from equity-deserving organizations, prioritizing NBMC's members.
  4. Coordinate Meetings: Schedule, organize, and facilitate quarterly online meetings and an in-person gathering in Year 1.
  5. Develop Materials: Create and distribute meeting materials, agendas, and minutes.
  6. Shape Proposals: Collaborate with the ARAISA Manager to shape the call for proposals.
  7. Maintain Communication: Keep ongoing communication with advisory group members to gather insights, track progress, and address concerns.

Organize and Facilitate Engagement and Validation Webinars

  1. Plan Webinars: Deliver two online webinars (one in English and one in French) in Year 1 to introduce and validate assessment tools with grassroots organizations.
  2. Refine Tools: Use feedback from webinars to ensure tools are practical, relevant, and aligned with project goals.
  3. Promote Tools: Encourage adoption and utilization of finalized tools across grassroots organizations.

Promote and Implement the Tools

  1. Launch Tools: Coordinate the online launch and dissemination of validated assessment tools, ensuring they are accessible and visible to all stakeholders.
  2. Establish Auto-Assessment: Implement the auto-assessment process as a prerequisite for organizations applying to the Call for Proposals (CFP), enhancing alignment with project goals.

Support Capacity-Building Efforts

  1. Provide Guidance: Assist grassroots organizations in using assessment tools to identify strengths and address capacity gaps.
  2. Monitor Effectiveness: Maintain ongoing communication with organizations to ensure tool effectiveness and alignment with project objectives.

Qualifications and Requirements

  1. Proven experience in conducting environmental scans and mapping of organizations is required.
  2. Strong understanding of equity-deserving populations and grassroots organizations.
  3. Degree in Social Sciences, Business / Administration, Research Studies or related studies a strong asset.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communications skills in French and English required.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail is required.
  6. Must be exceptionally organized and be flexible, resourceful, outgoing and prepared to take on new tasks.
  7. Can demonstrate initiative, work independently and as part of a team.
  8. Experience with Microsoft Office and research tools and methodology is an asset.
  9. Strong organizational and project management skills.

Working Hours, Compensation and Term of Position

  1. 37.5 hours per week variable.
  2. Starting salary at $55,000, to be reviewed annually.
  3. This position is a full-time contract role with a duration of three years.
  4. The employee may need to travel within the Atlantic provinces to attend membership tours, engage with grassroots organizations, and participate in in-person meetings and events.
  5. Approved travel expenses will be reimbursed by the employer.
