Stantec’s Alberta Environmental Services group is currently seeking an Equipment and Warehouse Coordinator and an Office Safety Environment Coordinator (OSEC) to join our team in Calgary. This is a great opportunity for a professional who has limited experience and is ready to learn and expand their knowledge and abilities. The person will take pride in meaningful and impactful work and help support projects while building safety culture in our Environmental Services business center. The successful candidate will have a passion for detail and enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment.
As the Equipment Coordinator you will work with project managers, field crews and other support staff to organize equipment, track inventory and usages for invoicing, outfit field crews with necessary equipment for shifts, ship and receive equipment, clean and calibrate equipment on return to the warehouse, conduct Health & Safety orientations for the warehouse, and assist with operations of a large consulting office. As an OSEC, you will act as a resource to local office operations in the administration of day-to-day HSSE activities, including promoting the Stantec HSSE Program, Environmental Management System and sustainability programs. In addition, you may assist in the development and revision of HSSE tools and documentation. The successful candidate will work primarily in a warehouse environment but may also participate in field work depending on project needs.
Your Key Responsibilities
Equipment and Warehouse responsibilities :
Shipping and receiving consumables and equipment for a variety of field projects.
Assist staff in procuring equipment and supplies
Maintain inventory list of equipment
Source and purchase equipment as needed
Record equipment use in tracking system for inventory tracking, calibration, and invoicing
Conduct Health & Safety orientations for the warehouse space as required
Conduct periodic warehouse inspections and maintain safety and cleanliness in the warehouse
Administrative duties as required
Other duties as assigned
Office Safety Environment responsibilities:
Maintain proper documentation of safety related records on the Canada Regional HSSE SharePoint site. This contains the forms, reports, and training records required by the HSSE Program
Assist Project Managers, supervisors, and others in obtaining PPE, safety, and environmental equipment for employees
Coordinate HSSE training as identified by HSSE Program requirements, hazard assessment, and SWP
Conduct the HSSE Program and business center Safety Orientation and collect and save the orientation checklist for new & transferred employees
Act as a local resource for Stantec’s HSSE Program, Hazard Recognition, Assessment and Control (HRAC) process
Communicate HSSE initiatives, distribute HSSE documents, and support messaging
Support internal & external audit processes that evaluate HSSE Program effectiveness
Possess and continually develop a basic understanding of local OH&S legislative requirements
Support Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and other activities as required for your province
Lead/Complete or participate in monthly/annual office inspections, Champion action item completion
Maintain an up-to-date office HSSE Bulletin Board
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials

Demonstrated organizational skills with an ability to prioritize work

Training in Health and Safety processes and management
Ability to prioritize tasks in a timely manner
Flexible work hours on occasion
Transportation to travel to the warehouse
Experience with environmental equipment and maintenance would be an asset
Education and Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in either inventory management or safety management roles.
Experience with asset management and inventory controls, purchasing, and equipment maintenance.
Knowledge of environmental monitoring equipment or scientific instrumentation would be an asset.
General familiarity with OH&S legislation
Previous safety coordinator experience or training in Joint Health and Safety Committees considered an asset
Familiarity with hazard recognition, assessment, and controls, PPE and Safe Work Practices typical for field work
This will be a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week. Some sporadic short-term travel between offices/work sites in Alberta may be required to support safety inspections, collaborate with staff across offices, and to provide logistical support. Occasional field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
