Equipment Operator - Telecom Construction

Description

You are an experienced Equipment Operator with a proven ability to work alongside crew members in a high-pressure environment while maintaining project quality to help build telecommunications networks. You are familiar with current construction work safe practices, can read utility locates and produce daily production reports. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Safe and efficient operation of mini excavators, rubber tire backhoes, trenchers, dozers, skid steers, etc.
  • Identify and report any repairs and/or defects in equipment or materials to ensure proper maintenance and minimize downtime.
  • Operates equipment, hand tools and lifts heavy items (up to 50 pounds)
  • Reads underground utility locates and ensures safe digging practices are always being adhered to
  • Maintains a healthy and safe work environment for the crew, the public, the customer, and Ledcor
  • Works as a part of an overhead telecom line crew and assists with restoring job sites back to their original state
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to new employees, helping them integrate into the team and perform tasks safely and efficiently
  • Responsible for daily production reporting to the Foreperson, ensuring that progress is documented and communicated effectively
  • Take active role in Ledcor’s health and safety program

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in equipment operation
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver abstract
  • Experience with safely operating a variety of large and small power equipment, light vehicles, and properly towing/backing-up trailers
  • Must be NSC (National Safety Code) trained and maintain accurate log books in accordance with regulations and company standards
  • Previous experience in telecommunications is an asset
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong knowledge of construction documents
  • Must be able to track and communicate daily production and materials
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple project stakeholders, interpret stakeholders’ needs, and identify solutions
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements

Work Conditions:

  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), working at heights, in confined spaces and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.)
  • Travel to various sites in the surrounding Calgary, AB area
  • Working outdoors in various weather conditions
