Position Overview

Working as part of the DPRT production team – Road Train operators will report to the DPRT Team Leader and work on a two (2) week on, two (2) week off rotation at the Ekati mine. The Equipment Operator - Road Train will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the road train ore haulage unit in a complex surface mining environment as well as other essential mining equipment. The successful candidate will work in a flexible team environment to achieve best-in-class efficiency and productivity.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of the road trains;
  • Operate other mining equipment (loader, grader), as required;
  • Effective communication using a 2-way radio system;
  • Successfully use an electronic production data collection system (WENCO);
  • Maintain equipment integrity and complete job hazard analysis reports and equipment logbooks;
  • Always protect the safety and well-being of yourself and your co-workers. Follow all Company specific safety protocols and Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating B-Trains, logging trucks and/or road trains (on or off highway);
  • Air Brake Certification from a Canadian Province;
  • Class 1 (Alberta or BC) or equivalent operating license (on highway tractor/trailer combination);
  • Working knowledge of an electronic production data collection system (i.e WENCO) and basic computer literacy, with a willingness to learn new computer skills;
  • Experience working in the mining industry, northern Canada, and an understanding of the northern regulatory environment is preferred;
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
