Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – Roads Maintenance and the direction of the Leadhand, operates construction and maintenance equipment.

MAJOR TASKS:
  1. Operates construction and maintenance equipment within the classification.
  2. Operates other equipment within the classification when required.
  3. Inspects equipment daily and carries out minor servicing of equipment being operated.
  4. Reports all equipment defects.
  5. Fills out time cards and marks in proper account distribution.
  6. Reports materials used to the Supervisor, Leadhand or stores personnel.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be reliable and able to understand, read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class “D” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent with a ‘Z’ endorsement.
  • Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation.
  • Must be proficient in operating a Grader “B” and street sweeper.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation.
  • May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified).
