The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) seeks an Equipment Operator II – Snow Clearing to operate and maintain snow clearing machinery, ensuring safe access for pedestrians on the Valley Trail and in village areas. Reporting to the Landscape Services Supervisor, you will perform equipment maintenance and support winter operations.

Qualified candidates will have a Grade 12 diploma and at least 2 years of snow clearing experience, with a valid BC class 5 driver’s license.

Job description

Situated within the shared, unceded territory of the L̓il̓wat7úl (Líl̓wat People) and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish People), the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) is a vibrant destination resort community, local government organization and leader in providing municipal programs, services, progressive planning and infrastructure. The Resort Operations department of the Climate Action, Planning and Development Services division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Equipment Operator II – Snow Clearing. Reporting to the Landscape Services Supervisor, this position offers 76.5 hours bi-weekly, starting on November 18, 2026, until March 31, 2027.

The Equipment Operator II’s role is to safely and efficiently operate, service, maintain and repair a variety of snow clearing equipment including compact loaders and sidewalk plows to ensure safe pedestrian access to the Valley Trail and sidewalks in park and village areas. The Equipment Operator II will also conduct machine maintenance.

Qualified candidates will possess a grade 12 diploma and at least 2 years of experience in a similar role including experience operating a variety of large equipment and machinery related to winter snow clearing operations including compact loaders and sidewalk plows. Qualified candidates demonstrate knowledge and experience with the methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in snow clearing operations while adhering to safe work procedures. Qualified candidates have knowledge of the resort community, Valley Trail and village areas and can perform moderate to heavy outdoor work in all weather conditions.

The successful candidate has a mechanical aptitude, good problem-solving skills and can effectively manage competing demands to complete tasks without direct supervision. The successful candidate demonstrates commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace while contributing to a positive environment. The starting wage for this role is $36.97 per hour.

As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must hold a valid BC class 5 driver’s license and must provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract prior to employment.
