Reporting to the Project Manager or their designate, the Equipment Operator is based in Calgary, AB. The role involves operating machinery on utility (electrical and civil) construction sites, primarily skid steer and mini excavator. The Equipment Operator will coordinate with tradespersons, coordinators, managers, and site superintendents to achieve project milestones safely and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operate equipment for underground utility installation.
• Operate equipment in residential areas.
• Maintain and perform basic safety checks on equipment.
• Read blueprints, stakes, and signage.
• Coordinate daily activities.
• Conduct pre-operation safety inspections and log them.
• Prepare safety toolbox talks and complete hazard assessments.
• Fuel and grease equipment to ensure safe operation.
• Perform general laborer duties and other activities at the construction site as required.

Education & Skills

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Valid Alberta Driver's License with a clean driving record; Class 3 with Airbrakes or Class 1 preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience operating skid steer and/or mini excavator.
• 2-5 years of construction industry experience in an operator role.
• Ground Disturbance and CSTS certifications are assets.
• Strong work ethic and safety awareness in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently or in a team.
• Willing and able to travel.
