Job description

Job Purpose



Glacier FarmMedia (“GFM”) is a dynamic company in the Canadian agriculture industry that connects with farmers through a variety of regional and specialty media franchises, a listings marketplace for the sale of farm equipment, leading industry events like Ag in Motion and Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show and customized offerings for Weather and Market analysis and insights.



The temporary equipment operator contractor plays a crucial role in facilitating seamless move-in and move-out processes for exhibitors and executing operational tasks during show setup, show days, and move-out phases. Responsibilities include efficiently managing exhibitor logistics and operating equipment with precision. Additionally, this position may involve operating a people mover tractor to shuttle guests during the event.



The duration of this role is flexible, from August 25th, 2025 - September 13th, 2025.



Duties and responsibilities








  • Use telehandlers or tractors to safely unload and load various equipment arriving at the show.

  • Arrange equipment in client's booth spaces according to client guidance, ensuring proper placement and organization.

  • Support the operations team by moving inventory to designated spots, delivering show supplies, installing signage, and other tasks as needed.

  • Perform pre-checks on machinery before operation, fuel machines at the end of each shift, and clean and wash equipment to ensure readiness for the next shift.

  • Report to dispatch for lift assignments and follow their instructions.

  • Report all incidents and near misses to the supervisor promptly.

  • Assist in demonstration areas as required, including loading and unloading materials, operating equipment, and ensuring safety measures are followed.

  • Operate powered mobile equipment (aerial lift platform) to install overhead signage.

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.







Qualifications








  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in equipment operation. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in operating telehandlers, tractors and PME (Powered Mobile Equipment).

  • Must have or be willing to undergo training for Tractor and Telehandler operation if not currently certified.

  • Applicants are required to provide their own steel-toed boots for safety compliance.







Working Conditions




  • Shifts ranging between 8 to 12 hours.

  • Work environment will be outdoors, requiring exposure to all weather conditions.

  • Applicants must possess the physical capability to:



  • Support connecting equipment efficiently.

  • Secure lift straps effectively.

  • Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
